No way, see it was all explained in one of the infamous levels that never made it to the game. They took it out because the only way to beat the level was to lose a fight with Mukade in the exact right spot. I think they took out the level because ubergamers wet their pants and went into a state resembling autism at the prospect of having to lose a fight to progress the game. But anyway, once you throw the match in the right spot, a catwalk over a huge pit, the cutscene comes in where Mukade ( breathing ominously ) cuts off Konokos hand with a laser sword ( what a Tekken rip off that would have been ) and tells her the truth. Griffin had lied to her, she wasn't an orphan but Mukade's daughter! He then offers her the choice to team up and take out Muro for control of the Syndicate. Konoko then screams a heart wrenching "NEVER!, I'LL NEVER JOIN YOU!!!!" and leaps off of the catwalk. Only her chrysalis and some amazing luck saves her from certain death in an oscar caliber cutscene with special effects done by Industrial Light and Magic.
