Maybe this has something to do with that level in TFL where Alric "became" part of the knot that was missing one of the... things that makes it go :) Perhaps Alric is a master at this type of magic. He can teleport himself and I suppose a good amount others, but he obviously can't summon people or else he wouldn't have had to get to that knot on that level to bring his troops through. Key to remember as Milk Man said is that both teleportations included small groups.
