Wait... I remember something from one interview or another about humanity being scattered and the Empire in ruin. Then Connacht reunited them. My esteem for Connacht's exploits has fallen dramatically if all he had to do was enlist the help of the crushing Cath Bruig (which they would have been at thye peak of their power).

I know that they had explosives from the dwarven ghosts (although I think that it's reeeaaaallly stupid), but GURPs says that they also had axes and plate armor. I also tentatively subscibe to the theory that the ghosts somehow progressed along wit their mortal counterparts. Otherwise the dwarves have been at the same technology level for a millenia, not impressive for a supposedly advanced race, and also the ghosts were somehow better at bottle throwin' that TFL dwarves.
