Clovis Etymology

...sorry for stealing the style of your posts, SiliconDream :)

Clovis was the founder of the Merovingian dynasty, a line of Frankish kings that lasted to the 8th century. He reigned from 481 to 511. In Myth II, Clovis was the first Cath Bruig emperor. The historical parallels aren't that flattering, really; the Merovingian kings were more interested in hunting and living the good life, and didn't really do much else of note.

One should also note that, as my History professor pointed out, Clovis' real name was something Germanic like "Chloderech," and "Clovis" is just what we call him. Also of note is that the French modify it a little more to get "Louis"... he is supposed to be the first king Louis of France. And we all know where the French monarchy ended up.
