: Sorry, but the "vatar" part is purely
: coincidental. The word "Avatara" comes from
: "avatar" meaning an incarnation of a god.
: The "vatar" from Illuvatar means father in
: the language Tolkien made, which was highly based on
: Germanic/Scandinavian languages, which all basically
: descend from the same root language. Does it surprise
: anybody that "vatar" in Tolkien's language
: means father, while "vater" is German for
: father?

No need to apologise, I just put it in because it's interesting. I didn't say that Avatara meant A-father-a, I was just mentioning it as a side note. I knew Avatara came from avatar it just seemed appropriate to talk about Tolkien's usage of it in an article about Tolkien. Whatever ;-).
