: history/geography major) to where we currently find
: the Trow empire.
Consider that, before the coming of humanity, the Trow owned the entire known world. And, like the historical Roman Empire, it is the part to the East that survived the incursions of the barbarians. (Admittedly, Byzantium was much further South than Rhi'Anon, but it still kinda fits.)
As a matter of fact, on the map from

: there's a large nation to the east, bordering France
: on all sides but the southwest, which I presume to be
: the Roman Empire (in fact, it's even labled "the
: empire"). "
That's the Holy Roman Empire. It was neither Holy (not ruled by the Pope, or by a priesthood, although large parts of it were to become severe hotbeds of Lutheranism), nor Roman (mostly Germanic, actually), nor an Empire (ruled by an Emperor, but one elected by the rulers of the provinces that made up the Holy Roman Empire. Suspiciously like "The Empire" in Warhammer.)
