Although I agree with you in principle about the Ghol cleaver not fulfilling many of the aspects normally associated with cleavers, the blade is much too long for it to really be called a sickle either. Frankly, with such a short blade and limited cutting area, a sickle would have made a pathetic melee weapon. The so called "ghol cleaver" is actually closer to the khopesh, a weapon used for a long period by the anchient Egyptians, which was something of a hybrid between a sickle and a shortsword, working on the principle that, in an unbalanced weapon (ie. those which are heavier at the business end) ,the force of a blow is magnified. Other examples of unbalanced weapons include axes, maces, flails and the halberd family.
