Michael M.'s observant comments of tFoR (updated)

In Response To: Michael M.'s observant view of tidbits from tFoR (Michael M.)

NOTE: All things updated since the last time this was posted will have a star(*) next to it.

ALSO NOTE: Have a look at these tags before you continue: *Spoilers* *Good memory required* *long*
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

*Some people call me observant, or holmes. So, I decided to put all the tiny things in tFoR I've noticed into an anthology. Judging by the replies I've got from the first version, people seem to like my insight. So I decided to add more to you hungry little buggers. ;)

(Heh, I can't think of a way to take this bit out because of the new introduction above. Oh well...)Now, I'm re-reading tFoR and hell, it's finally making some sense. Last time I read it, I had no clue what "inaccurate spectrum analysis of debris readings on course two-through-five" was, so I basically skim-readed the whole book. This time, I've taken the care to slowly read each word, therefore the book finally made sense. So, being the observant critter I am, I've noticed the tiny bits others probably haven't. Here goes:

1) Cheif Mendez will never make an appearance again. "John never saw [Mendez] again". Ever. It's sad... but Mendez won't be coming back. Straight from the words of Nylund. Unless of course someone other than MC sees him in Halo 2... Dr. Halsey?(Hint, hint.)

2) Now, the stealth ship Keyes destroyed during the orbital battle for Sigma Octanus IV. Remember? Think deep into your memory. There was a tiny covie
ship, "bigger than the dropships"(phantom?). Keyes pondered that
it was a stealth ship, so after a few unsuccesful archer missiles, he
drove right into it, crushing it. I suspect two things: A)It escaped in
time and will somehow be of significance in Halo: First Strike, or B)
Before it was crushed, it let out the tiny probe which attached tothe
Iriquois. More on that next.

3) Keyes made it after the battle for Sigma Octanus IV, and during his course
around the planet again, a tiny probe, identical to the rest of the scrap
metal from the cradle (the repair station which took a hit for Keyes'
ship), attached itself to the iriquois ' armor and obviously made it's
position known to the covenant on Reach, thus the fall of Reach. The first
time I read tFoR, I thought this "probe" might be 343GS, but now
I realise that it was most likely something the Covenant have which we
haven't seen yet. Let's cross our specially-designed prosthetic halo 2
fingers!

3) About the crystals on Cote d' Azur: Apparently, those crystals the hunters
were trying to nab in the red box were the same as the ones at grid
thirteen-by-twenty-four. Now, thanks to my bad memory, it's not clear, but
I think Cpl. Harland sees this same mineral. Meh. Well, later Cortana with
Dr. Halsey deep in her lab on reach speculate on the crystal's origin. It
was poked, stabbed and clued about it when the MC talks to the ONI spooks
about the early scientists on Sigma Octanus IV. Well, Dr. Halsey mentions
it the encrypted message that Keyes recorded was similar to the writing on
the crystals(bad memory, could be wrong). This would mean a possible new
enemy. No new enemy, I think the legendary forerunners were behind this
one. They either sent a few meteorites to Sigma Octanus IV with the
crystals to warn the humans of the soon-to-be-discovered Covenant, or they sent it as a threat. Either way, it proves the forerunners have a
language.

4) The engineers: Not much explaining on this one, I just wanted to say
anyone who was confused about the aliens who disassemble and reassemble
human technology were engineers. They were cut from the game before it was
released. Unfortunately, I can't provide a link, but you can find it if
you dig around a bit. No news to those of you who already knew.

*5) A recent post claimed there was only one AI on the PoA: Cortana. Apparently, Wellsley was just brought along for the ride. Actually, there are two AIs on the PoA. As it states in chapter thirty(I think), when Cpt. Keyes is being toured around on the PoA by Lt. Hikowa, she says there is a backup AI on the ship used for point defense. Of course, this AI is Wellsley.

*6) Remember when the MC first took Cortana for a ride? You might remember when MC first tried out Cortana and the sheilds on his suit, he was in a life-critical mission set up by ONI to see if he could die. At one point, Cortana stops talking to him. She comes back soon, and carries on as normal.
But remember: Later, the book states she set up a sattelite link to view everything the master chief did during the mission. Afterwards, Dr. Halsey asked Cortana to keep check on the engine's flow to keep her busy.
Cortana did it, but she also went into ONI's files to score a little revenge. She made sure Colonel Ackerson was sent off to fight on the battlefeild, and also she looked up the MC's CSV. She noted it all, then came to realise that ONI locked some parts of MC's CSV. So, Cortana, accompanied by a little espionage and quick thinking, tapped into ONI's database and pulled out the locked info in an instant, less than a milisecond.
Old news? Of course. But think about this: When Captain Keyes is talking to the MC in-game, he asks Cortana to set a route for the PoA. She dissapears into her tank, and Keyes says a few more things to MC. Then, Cortana comes back out and MC puts her chip into his head. I believe that while she was setting a route, since she's so fast at things I think she must have got up to something else with the spair time she had left. Maybe tell the UNSC about the location of Halo? Who knows. What we do know is she's a tricksy one, so she could have got up to anything cheeky, knowing her.

*7) So we know Cortana made sure Colonel Ackerson fought out on the feild where he belongs rather then deep in the honeycombs of UNSC military bases. So, I think he'll make an appearance in Halo 2, and he'll finally break like a shell.

*8) Remember Corporal Harland? The guy who MC saves at Sigma Octanus IV? Well, a few days after the Sigma Octanus incident, the MC is called along with Cpl. Harland, Dr. Halsey and Cpt. Keyes to be spoken to by some ONI spooks. I remember just before Corporal Harland goes in, he asks MC about the spartans. He asks if there was any way for him to join. MC doesn't say much, so Harland asks if anyone asks MC, he should sign up Harland on the double. I think Harland got his wish. In halo 2, I think he will most likely make an appearance as a :gasp: spartan! Either that, or an ODST. Either way, he'll make an appearance.

Phew... well, that's it for today! Constructive critism is welcome! Expect another update soon. I've almost finished reading tFoR again!

*Breaths out*
