People used to get their Halo news from Bungie.net, which would often mention HBO. That's likely how most people found out about the site, but it's not really the case any more.

Also, it's a Bungie fansite. Most b.org regulars stick to DBO. Even most Halo discussion on this site is over on DBO instead.

The biggest problem though is simply that the games aren't good anymore. Halo fan engagement is neutered compared to what it used to be because 343's stewardship has been disaster after disaster after disaster for over a decade. That sort of thing can (and usually does) kill a fanbase, it's honestly a shock that it's still as strong as it is.

When I shipped out for basic, the orbital defense grid was all theory and politics joined HBO, there were 400 posts a day. Now it's a ghost town, just dust 'n echoes.
