: I liked the fire team system in Halo 5 and would like it to return.
I like to run and gun, when I'm in the flow I'm happy. I don't like asking fools to kill the people for me and I don't want to work out clever ways to overcome their profound limitations. The fourth wall is blown to pieces when your Spartan companions are inhumanly incompetent.
I don't want to play a game were I spend my time mitigating the suck. I've had enough of that with Warthogs since h2 (allies driving them) and Halo 3 (trying to get the right guy with the right weapon in the right seat).
As an aside: if I had the power, I would remove Ally warthog driving and passenger position swapping from the game. Ditto for ally weapon swapping.
: Halo has
: in the past suffered from not having main characters along to deliver
: story, and especially with Cortana now the antagonist Blue Team and Osiris
: fill a nice role.
I don't think they did. Cortana worked better because she was the clever one. Also she had personality.
: The AI leaves something to be desired—it's better than
: Reach, but that's not exactly a ringing endorsement. Even on Legendary
: they can be quite capable, but it's entirely down to you being smart and
: executing commands.
I don't buy a game to practice my suck mitigation skills. To me, getting those fools to produce reasonable results is not a source of unalloyed pleasure. Destiny and Halo shootage is.
: I do agree if you're playing solo than hanging around
: bleeding out isn't a fun mechanic... would be a nice compromise if you'd
: rapidly drop then so you can still have the more classic checkpoint
: elements.
An idea to mitigate the suck. It reminds me of trying to make duel wielding work. :-) or the hog experience after h2...
: It would be nice to have marines and Spartans back aside from main
: characters. I missed them a lot.
I miss them. I also enjoy some me time in the game.
: I hope they keep the non-combat sections of missions (even if they aren't
: split out into their own missions) and keep the audio diaries. That stuff
: was basically what I wanted most from other FPS like BioShock and added to
: Halo, and I'm happy I got it.
I'm not a fan of hunting for recordings to collect scraps of story. I'd prefer a dialogue wheel. I wouldn't bother with a morality system. I'd just have:
The my opinion option isn't about which action to take next. It just lets you express your opinion. It's about your character and openness to more exposition or reflection on events, places, people. It's also a way to connect with the "person" that you are conversing with.
