But it is not Halo concept art.

The above is the Sikorsky S-60 flying crane, and it is the S-60 because only one prototype was made. There were some minor design issues like the fact that it was small and rather underpowered. The concept was sound, though, and by the time the prototype crashed in 1961, the CH-54 Tarhe and S-64 Skycrane were on the drawing boards.

Anyhow, the 1950s were the dawn of the passenger airliner, and there were a lot of people who thought that helicopter taxis were the next big thing. It didn't pan out, partly because of operating cost and low speed, mostly because people are negative nancies about the noise helicopters make when they fly over. But Sikorsky had their eye on this market, and they turned out some concept art of a passenger pod that could bolt onto the S-60's cargo span.
