In Response To: HATS AND MORE HATS (Bounce-A-Gon)

: cosmetic dlc and a tons of it. quick and easy make (compared to map dlc) and
: "cheap to sell" a dollar here for an armor skin, a dollar here
: for a firefight/Mp Voice set, Hero weapons (weapon re-skins) a shiny
: avatar and/or nameplate. or it's gonna be Spartan Ops analogy we would pay
: for. Legacy firefight maps(levels based on areas or certain fights from
: previous games). forge and theater are not pay wall items. forge has never
: been one and even when we got a proper halo 4 canvas (forge island) that
: was also free. theater being what is (a legacy mode from pre-dvr days)
: cant really be charged extra for. typical micro transactions for free to
: play games without any of the pay to win stuff. which would be hard to do
: cause the progression system by the vary nature halo 5 will be at worst
: just the reach style(points earned in game spent on cosmetics) or at best
: the mcc style (everything tied directly to campaign) that being said i
: think there will be a fair amount of cosmetics in game natively(all of
: halo 4's cosmetics)

Paid-cosmetic-only DLC is fine. The Gears of War franchise experimented with this, to some success. As does TF2, as you loudly point out.

Making that sort of content as a micro transaction is fine, as it doesn't impact the standard game. Really, it's the one type of micro transaction that is acceptable.

During Ace Combat 6's heyday, I purchased quite a few planes that were only different in color, and the color missiles they fired. I wanted em. They didn't give me any advantage.

If 343 wants to do the same with crazy weapon skins or DLC armor, more power to them.

We lost Theater and rendered films because that infrastructure was Bungie's. Now that the PS4 and XB1 can sort of do those tasks, a case can be made for why it would be wasteful for 343 to invest in that feature specifically for Halo. The argument goes both way.

Many of my non HBO\DBO friends are\were casual players of Halo back in the day, and even more casual now.

They never used, nor cared about Forge, Theater, or rendered films.

I'm inclined to believe that the majority of gamers are the same. Sure, WE use the hall out of it. But we're super fans. There is a difference.
