If you don't mind voiding any warranty it might have, try opening the mic's base (the part where it plugs into the controller). It could just be a broken solder connection. Thus a easy fix. These things have soldering worse then that of a external hard drive case. The more the wire moves, the weaker it gets. Until it just snaps off/out. Just a suggestion.
