I think the local district covers the entire CSRA, which is the Augusta-Aiken metro area and some adjacent counties.
: The employees are usually nice enough, but their company policies are
: designed to screw you over if you want to bring in used games. One time, I
: returned a stack of 360 games and they said that they all together were
: only worth ONE CENT. Store credit was like $5. If I sold the same games
: online, I could've made $20-30.
That's just the cost of dealing with a middle man. They buy your games for much less than what they'll charge for those games because it's more lucrative than just selling new games, which are lower margin. GameStop gets only a quarter of their revenue from the sale of used games, but used games are more profitable and generate half of the company's profits. Most other places I've been to that buy used games aren't any better than GameStop. While I buy plenty of used games, I never trade in my games there (though I'm not the kind to trade in games at all).
: Long story short, I'm using a local business instead and it's been a much
: better experience.
We don't really have any local game stores around here. We did have a Play & Trade, which is a smaller GameStop-style chain that never stopped selling retro games & systems, but they closed down the Augusta store, leaving us with GameStop, Wal-Mart, and Best Buy as our only brick-and-mortar retailers that sell new games.
