VENERANCE - SPARTAN-II content creation guide

"A friend is someone who knows the song in your heart,
and can sing it back to you
...when the words have been forgotten."

Hello, my friends. :)

If you will hear it, I will here sing back to you our song of cyborgs --

-- the verses that speak of the absolute maximum of the human body's potential to fulfill a hallowed role, as achievable by the cutting edge of 26th-century science, under the direction of a workaholic genius --

-- the verses that speak of our path into transhumanism --

-- the verses that speak of a desperate imbuing of unprecedented power into the human will, the human spirit, and into our indomitable defiance in the face of undeserved annihilation --

Yea, if you will hear it, I will here sing back to you from the song in our hearts those verses that speak of SPARTAN-IIs.

"Be the change that you want to see in the world."

For those who don't know/remember, I am part of a team that is working on a project called VENERANCE.

It is a fan-made labor of love for the PC.
It is an experience (a "mod," specifically) utilizing the CryEngine that is adapted from events in The Fall of Reach.

As we began to create certain things, it occurred to us that fellow members of the Halo fan community (especially fan artists and other content-creating Halo fans) could really benefit in a big way from all of the exhaustive and meticulous research that we are doing for the sake of our work (perfectionism - don't do it, kids: only the first hit is free).

So, we figured that it would be beneficial to the community for us to release coherent documents that walk a would-be content creator through the hoops that we jump through as we seek to max out the potential quality of our work.

Not only are you likely to find it useful, but you will also likely find it to be just plain fascinating if you're a fan of Halo.

This first document is about my personal favorite Halo topic: SPARTAN-IIs.

Specifically, what their bodies look like when out of armor, and why those bodies look that way.

The two main images to share with you regarding this are:

1.) Our most recent 2D rendering of a 6' 10" male S2 body (John-117),
and
2.) A scale chart to give some perspective to that body.

The document itself is rife with detail-revealing information about what it would be like to actually observe a SPARTAN-II if you were walking around inside of the Halo universe, and puts these two aforementioned images into a very detailed context.

It is basically an internal document that has been adapted for the sake of public consumption, and so while our own version might be updated over time, the version being posted here represents the vast, vast majority of the information that will be in our own (growing) internal version.

We have it in a PowerPoint Slideshow format and in a PDF format.

Please enjoy, and if you have any questions, ask away!

"Give a Halo fan some content and you feed them for a day;
show a Halo fan how to make some content and you feed them for a lifetime."
