Human nature never changes, right? The other day, I blew someone's mind by explaining that Napoleon Bonaparte was a contemporary of Thomas Jefferson. Most people, however hard you try to teach them about history, are aware of historical events and figures but extremely hazy on when and in which order those events took place. So, yeah, the Marines are likely conflating some of the colonial wars of the 20th century (Six centuries ago!) with a later war (Rainforest wars?) that Crows Nest was built for.
