Some lessons:
Never fly around with many PLEX in your hold. (That was £380 - $600+)
Never trust people offering deals in local chat.
High-sec isn't safe.
Join a player corporation. EVE Uni is good.
When your ship disappears and you turn into a green pod thing, you've levelled up.
People on the forums are vicious, cold-hearted, tear-collecting bastards.
Don't mention The Door in front of anyone who's been playing longer than 2 years.
Always keep your clone updated.
Don't fly what you can't afford to lose, unless you're surrounded by people you trust completely (which should be never if you're doing it right).

Otherwise, yeah it's pretty good. A bit spreadsheet-y as some have noted, but the graphics are neat and the whole universe is awesome.
