: This is not good argumentation. This is an egocentric and unimaginative
: dismissal and people do it far too often.
I think you're misunderstanding me. I thought it would be a good idea. I said I felt it was simply too general. It would have been extremely difficult for Bungie, or any other studio for that matter, to anticipate areas on maps eventually being called a completely different name then they had planed.
Back in WW2 there an army officer who was responsible for building pathways throughout a new base. Instead of laying down paths before the soldiers walked around, he waited. After a little while he could see the worn out grass where the soldiers had been walking. Only then did he pour concrete.
This could be applicable to the callout feature Bungie implemented in Reach. If the in-game callouts were able to be edited (either by users or the studio) then we may be able to make progress on that theoretically good idea.
I'm definitely not egocentric, by the way. I was just stating my personal experience with the feature. You can't expect one person to speak for the masses. I don't think 343 had the time or manpower to spend on this relatively insignificant feature. It seems like a good omission when they had already planned on implementing a handful of other new features.
