: Halo Reach is either packaged by Oni to tell the public the version of Reach
: the want them to see, or it is a Mythical retelling of what happened,
: similar to MGS3. Doesn't matter if it contradicts anything, and in fact

I honestly think it's more of a Bungie wanted to realign the story of Reach's fall to fit with the rest of the Halo universe. The Fall of Reach was a good book that set the tone for much of Halo, but for better or worse it just didn't fit current day Halo. Newer and better ideas, like the Elites and Prophets searching for the Halos which is a key plot that played out over hundreds of fictional years, hadn't been thought of yet and once they had having no Prophets and no Elites over the 30+ year Covenant war just didn't make any sense.

I don't think Bungie quite pulled that realignment off, but they gave us a great final Halo regardless.
