Loathing is kinda ram hungry. It needs 64,000k of ram. Don't know why bungie left the min to be 10,000k because that doesn't come close to satsfyfing Loathing. My guess is that it isn't getting enough ram. Thats why it can open some maps, but not all of them. If you don't have 64,000k of FREE ram then turn on or increase the amount of virtual memory. Also you should leave about 1 meg of free ram for the system to grow into.
