In Response To: Help w/ model placin in loathing (Sinister Minister)

: Hi, I am making a map, bu whenever I try to open it it
: says "cell 81,115 contains more than one
: model." How can i remedy this? any and all
: feedback is appreciated.

What a weird bug. I thought Loathing wouldn't let you stack models without an immediate error, but apparently it let you overwrite a good mesh with a corrupted one. Is that what happened? Well, if Loathing won't open a mesh anymore, you will have to open it in a hex editor and haxOr it so Loathing likes it again. If a model collision really is the problem, this suggestion might help, but if it's just masking another problem, you'll have to tinker more than it's probably worth.

Make a backup copy of your mesh. Open your mesh in a hex editor. About 7/8ths to the end you'll see a series of 32 byte chunks which contain information about the models, units, scenery, etc. on your map. Entries for models look like this:

00 06 00 00 XX XX XX XX FF FF 00 00 00 00 FF FF
00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ## ## ** **

00 06 designates that this is a model. XX XX XX XX is the model tag id. ## ## is the number of these that you have on your map. ** ** is the part number (the number of this type of model, from 00 00, that distinguishes it from the other models on your mesh.)

Change the tag id of what you suspect to be the offending model to something else. I suggest you try 31 31 72 70 which is 11rp - 11 rocksmall, because it's little. Make sure you leave everything else unchanged. It's bad to change the length of the tag. Now try to open your mesh in Loathing. If you picked the right model(s) to change, it should work. See, Mr. Minister, this time you really get to hax0r your map. Good luck with that Pirates thing.
