Hmm I agree with your accessments. A public product of some kind would go a great deal towards rebuilding the Myth fanbase. In a way what Myth 3, carnage wise, was to bring something of a premature end to a franchise that could have kept going. Although there were circumstances going on that conspired to make this happen that were not directly the fault of any one entity, the result was a flawed product that was shunned. I can say the release of Myth 3 I'm playing now with subsequent bug fixes is good, but the original was not (from what I've heard), er go, the whole thing collapsed in on itself like an overmassive star.
That being said, My disapointment with Myth 3 lies in the gameplay, I wonder if Myth could go in another direction, not story wise, but interface wise, some kind of new way of playing myth, hmm something to think about anyway. The Myth realm has many fascets, famous characters and backstory that could be revealed in many motifs like you said, be it novelization, film or game.
In my case I prefer to build things into an audio/visual realm so film and games is usually where I like to keep my sights set. That being said the "White Elephant" of all this is TakeTwo. Now I'm the first to admit that I know less than nothing about the business side of the gaming world, but I wonder if it would be possible to put together some kind of presentation that could be shown to TakeTwo that might get them to, at the least, allow development of a Myth-based *something*. Like I hear others say a rebirth and new vision for Myth: The Wolf Age. Or something to that effect. Am I just naieve here?
I have seen that there is alot of passion out there to do something with Myth just not alot of resources to do it with, perhaps if we could all work together in some capacity we could actually "give it a shot" and see if Myth can be reborn in some meaningful way. Although I do enjoy writing on my own ideas, I'd certainly like to delve into Myth again as well. I think though the fans are few there are enough talented interested individuals that at the least we could try something, what do you think?
