: Indeed this would be the ideal situation, however it is
: probably not a practical goal to pursue. Intellectual
: Property rights and Copyright Law make aquiring rights
: of anykind costly. Since were talking about (in my
: case) a sum somewhere around 10-15 thousand, its
: unlikely I'd be able to buy the rights in a singular
: fashion.
: This is of course the ultimate irony of this situation,
: Take Two has little or no interest in doing anything
: with Myth, but the minute any of us start asking about
: rights and the cost of aquisition, the figure will be
: very very high. Such is life in business.
: I guess thats why I posted here, I'm really not at all
: certain of what can be done, if anything. I have
: capital to invest, which is more than zero. But it is
: also likely less than the ammount needed to secure the
: rights and produce another title. That is the
: connundrum that currently occupies my thoughts.
I don't think we're speaking of buying the rights as a whole, as in purchasing, exclusively, all of the intellectual property of the Myth franchise; rather, buying the rights to produce another Myth game, or whatever it is we may decide to do.
Oh, and to introduce myself if you've not already met me from the archives here: I'm Forrest, I used to (and theoretically still do, but that's just theory) run this place, and I've been babysitting Myth's story since the beginning of the fan community. I would love to be involved in some kind of a Myth universe extension, if nothing else in a storywriting context, although I have significant artistic skills as well. (I'm trying to break into game development myself). Unfortunately I am extremely pressed for time right now and have promised myself I wouldn't take on any new projects unless they were paid; but at the same time on such a limited budget I wouldn't really feel all that great about taking money away from things that might actually cost hard money just to compensate my time.
That all being said... whatever happens, I'd still love to be involved however I can afford. I really feel that if something involving Myth's story happens, I HAVE to be involved, to make sure we don't get another Myth III on our hands.
