Greetings from the Abyss, I am DarkSword and I post here today mainly for the purpose of discussing a subject near and dear to (most) of our hearts, that is the revival of the Myth Story and Franchise.
I remember the first time I played Myth, I was at a local Mall in '97, I was a senior in high school and while I was currently enjoying Escape Velocity I came across a quaint, Medieval-looking game that promised to be better than Warcraft II, which I was also playing at the time. So I bought it and began playing. The game offers a series of firsts, your first trip into the Tain, your first time to defeat a Trow, your first time to get flattened on bungie.net, yes we all remember the days. However as most of us are aware those days are in large part gone.
A small core group of fans and developers continues their freelance work on the games and the multiplayer capacity there in to great benefit to the community. Now, here is the deal I've come into an inheritance, and I'm looking to see if there is anything I can do, investment wise to put Myth back on track. The earning potential of this great storyline and universe is hardly apparent at present, as most people I talk to don't know what Myth is, much less have ever played it. The way I see it Myth is an autonomus creature, suppored by the small group of fans that knows the story is still viable, and enjoyable.
I'm not at all sure what I and my moderate sums of money can really accomplish, but, in the absense of a motivated and comitted developer, it is up to us, the remainder of the Myth Community to do what we can to keep what we love alive. I am, at least at this point in a unique position to actually put some of my own money forward into reviving Myth, its a financial and creative entity that I believe in, and I'd like to hear oppinions from others on this board that have supported and played Myth for the past seven years, and what your thoughts are on what we could possibly do to turn things around.
