Hail all!
Well, officially I can tell the world that I'm on the Myth III team, and am at this moment sweaty from packing up my bed. (moving _sucks_).
What that means to you guys is simple: we will do everything in our power to make this game kick ass. I've talked extensively with Iggy and Fisj about what we want to have happen, what we need to avoid, and how exactly these things are going to happen. Obviously I can't tell you guys much about the inner workings of the project, but I can tell you that at every turn, Scott (project manager) and Mark (president and founder of Ritual) have impressed the hell out of me. They are both excellent communicators, brutally intelligent, and even better, they stop to listen and give feedback to criticism and new ideas. The rest of the team's experience speaks for itself.
Me, Iggy Popped and Fisj are obvious newcommers, but we bring energy and an intimate knowledge of what makes Myth great. We also care deeply about the community and it's needs. For many people Myth is a home away from home, a place to be with their friends and in my opinion, this kind of community is going to be a significant part of both gaming, and the world's future.
For those myth community pessimists (sp? already packed my dictionary *8) ) out there, keep this in mind; only 20-30% of people who bought Myth played it online. It would be significantly cheaper for a company new to the Myth world to cut that aspect out of Myth III and concentrate on solo play (ala Oni). They did not. They have personally told me that this game's future is very important to them.
For what it's worth, I have a small list of things I intend to build specifically FOR you guys. I won't go into details now, because until I get neck deep in this beast, I don't want to overcommit. But I DO want to assure you that I'll be thinking about y'all every step of the way, and doing what I can to give you more freedom in Myth III.
Also, keep in mind that there will be things about Myth III that suck. Nothing ever made is perfect. What we intend to do is make this the most fun physically possible in the time we have to finish it. So please support our efforts, and give constructive criticism. We are going to be up late nights early on, so we have time to spare at the end for tweaking. Let us know you appreciate it.
