: Yeah, the media tool is only good for seeing how the
: reflection map aligns with the color map. This trick
: might help, though--
: Make a template of 16x16 pixel squares each containing a
: "x" and a "+" (in other words, the
: squares are divided into 8ths). Copy and paste these
: edge-to-edge until you have a template the size of
: your map. Then, if you use this as a reference layer
: in your graphics app, you will be able to see how the
: meshwork fits your color map while you're making it.
: More painstaking, of course, but being able to see the
: mesh while you're making the color map helps make
: displacement and passibility better too.
Ok. That is something I have been doing for just about a week now. I find that pattern to be indispensable. Working with the mesh pattern I created a new layer onto which I traced a selection following the exact edges of my river. I had already edited the river using the mesh pattern. So I then filled the selection with black and imported the resulting pict file into my mesh. The mesh, however, still had areas of the blue river that were still marked as land. Some of my cell portions were not being toggled by the media map. I went back to photoshop today to tweak the media map. I tried expanding the black media portion of it by two pixels and reimported it back to loathing and it worked perfectly. There wasn't a single triangle out of place. Useful info for anyone else encountering difficulty. Thank you for your response.
