How do i get plugins to appear on tools?

I've downloaded some units that i liked and ive plugged them in on multiplayer maps and experimented with them. But how can i use these units on loathing or fear? Am i supposed to put the plugin somewhere else thaan the plugin folder for this to happen ? help...
