: Let me get this straight: The deity (=Leveler)is the most
: powerful entity in Myth. He incarnates into the evil
: or the good once in 1000 years. So if he becomes Balor
: in Myth than 1000 years before he should be the good
: guy, right? But no, 1000 years before Balor there was
: Connacht-the Savior, AND Moagim-the Destroyer.So
: apparently there is a logical mistake. It seems that
: in every cycle there is a Savior and a Destroyer, or
: perhaps it is meant that they incarnate every 500
: years...
: Another remark: I understand that the "good"
: rules all the time in Myth story, and the evil comes
: every 1000 years to try to destroy the war. But out of
: these 1000 years, the Leveler does not even hold a
: century - remember, the war between Balor and the Nine
: lasted only for 19 years.
: Last thing: if the Leveler incarnates to a Savior and a
: Dsetroyer than as a Destroyer he knows that he can't
: change anything because in the next period he will be
: the Savior, so fighting is pointless. So what's the
: point for the Leveler to destroy things when he knows
: that later he will have to rebuild everything? I guess
: that the deity is not one but three persons: a Savior
: and Destroyer (who lead an eternal fight between each
: other) and a powerful being who randomly changes his
: attitude towards them, once on the Saviors side and
: once on the side of the Destroyer and thus having a
: great influence on the result of the fight. But as far
: as we know, the evil has never won the war, so the
: Light can just say: look back in history, we have
: nothing to fear, we will win anyway.
In the very first, original Myth story, revealed in an interview with Jason Jones, every 500 years the Leveller would return as either Savior or Destroyer, and usher in an age of Dark or Light. In the revision I quoted above, they changed that to 1000 years, but kept the Leveller-returns-as-destroyer-or-savior bit.
In the release-version plot of TFL, it seemed that the Leveller ruled for a thousand years (the Wind Age), then was gone for a thousand (the Wolf Age), then returned again...
Finally, in the M2 Epilogue and in GURPS, it is revealed that the Leveller returns every thousand years, and faces off with a great hero, and each Era the Leveller alternately wins or loses.
However, there is a bit about a Savior that I can't quite mention to you all yet...
