In Response To: Continuing "The Head discussion" ... (Thurgrum)

: (Theory number one)Have we ever considered that the head
: may not be on either side of the Darkness or Light
: forces? He may be just serving himself, and acting on
: vengeance or spite.

Indeed we have. Forrest and I came up with opposite possible motivations for the Head, as a neutral demigod. Forrest thought that perhaps he was dedicated to keeping the cycle going, and I thought that perhaps he was dedicated to destroying the cycle and leaving Light and Dark permanently balanced.

: I am going to believe that he was a commander under
: Connacht at one time. Seems that all the other fallen
: lords or evil-minded beings who have survived years
: upon hundreds of years, served Connacht in some way.
Not quite. The Watcher was an enemy of Connacht until Balor's advent, as were the Trow (although they're not really evil-minded) and the Myrkridia (although they don't show up in TFL).

: This guy may still be loyal to Connacht, and despise
: Balor for what he is doing now. If you were dedicated
: enough to follow Connacht and fight off the myrkridia
: in another age, something drastic must happen for you
: to totally switch sides and become the very thing you
: fought so many years ago. So this head may be quite
: pissed at all those Fallen Lords who are following
: Balor. The head might see an opportunity to exact
: vengeance on those who wronged him and his beliefs,
: and have an army of desperate soldiers who are ready
: to follow his advice. The head may not even care what
: happens to the Light's forces as long as he sees his
: old enemies tremble and fall.
True, but keeping as many of the Light's forces alive as possible would certainly help him get at his old enemies, which makes it unclear why he started the civil war in the West. Without it, there would have been a few thousand more Light soldiers to go hunt down Soulblighter and The Deceiver after Balor's fall.

: Well, tell me what you think. I am probably more
: convinced with theory number one, but both could be
: way off the mark as well. =)

The only thing I'm sure of is that there will never EVER (barring Chimera) be a single Head theory supported by more than 30% of us at a time.
