GURPS says he was also the second-or-third most powerful sorcerer of his heyday, which was back in the Wind Age. So it seems like he and Myrdred have always been jockeying for second place, after whichever sorcerer is supreme at the time, be it a Leveller, a Great Hero, or Mazzarin.

The Watcher's big, but not *that* big. :-) He looks completely human to me--even what we can see inside his helmet--and the Callieach were most likely as alien as the Trow and other Elder Races. But I suppose he *could* have been.
