In Response To: Re: Getting back on track about the head's identit (Forrest of B.org)

: Er... when he was BEHEADED by Balor. Fruedian slip there.

Well, here i go again.

I'm now fairly sure the faceless man is not the head. Aside from Forrest's responses, I found an interesting thread in the archives which ended with an interesting tidbit. And I quote Silicon Dream:

"But I do think that you're partially right about the pregame info; the Faceless Man was simply merged with Soulblighter in the final game. (I follow the Shiver != Ravanna theory.)"

This makes a lot of sense, and while I'm not out to prove it, I think it's right. And now for something completely different.

There was one person i left out in my original post who could be the head: Segoth, son of Wyrd. How did his head survive? Well, the fact that he's a son of a god aside, here's a little bit from GURPS:

"Thinking that Wyrd tricked them, the dark gods beheaded Wyrd's son, Segoth. His head was preserved such that it will never die, nor lose its power of speech..."

Now how many times has that happened?

This is a quote by Forrest, who knows the identity of the Head.

"He claimed to be an avatara or lieutenant of Connacht's. (The narrator says he claims to be a lieutenant, and later says Alric riddiculed his claim of being an avatar)

He claimed to have lost his body in a battle with Balor long before any of us had ever heard of him or the Fallen Lords"

And then, referring to the two statements above:

"Until recently I had come to the conclusion that whatever else be thought about the Head, he was telling the truth (or very close to it) on both occasions. And now, after The Revelation, I stand by that belief."

Well, well, well. Digging through the archives, I came across a thread entitled "A Head Insight" that contained this little gem, also from Forrest:

"Here's my take on it: the Head is a good guy. He is against the Leveller in general, because he decapitated him. Thus, he advises good guys against The Leveller. He advised Connacht, like he said: he also lost his [head] to to Balor, in as much as Balor is the Leveller. Now he's helping Alric & co in TFL. Any damage done to the light could be accidental, or simply because the Head is a god (Segoth) and doesn't think mortal lives are really anything to worry about when there's a Leveller to be killed."

Granted, Segoth isn't the only one who fits the description, but we've already eliminated most (if not all) of the other choices. The evidence mounts:)

The quote also offers explains why Segoth would be helping the light, yet would cause mayhem within the ranks: he doesn't care what happens, as long as the leveler is dead. This could also explain why we don't see him again: his mission is accomplished, and since SB isn't the leveler in M2, there's no need for him to be there.

Go ahead, Forrest: Prove me wrong- If You Can!
