Since the Trow enslaved or destroyed most Younger Races who were higher-profile and more quickly maturing than Humans--like the Oghres--Dwarves probably appeared and developed as late or later than Humans did; so far as we know, they were ignored by the Trow just like Humans were.
Also, given the Dwarves' rate of technological progress, they'd perhaps be far ahead of Humans by now if the latter race hadn't had a head start. Perhaps.
