: This is a weird -- but brilliant -- hypothesis, IMHO. To
: ice it, you'd need to demonstrate a connection to The
: Deceiver in its origin. Good luck. ;)
Um...it was buried underground. The Deceiver was buried in some ice for a while. There we go!
Dave Wellington brought up this idea a long time ago; I should try to track it down in the archives. Of course, then I might find out that I argued against it, and that'd be embarrassing.
: Did Bungie ever confirm various hypotheses about the
: marathon story? If not, bleh. But if so, any chance
: they might answer 5-10 yes/no questions, were we to
: ask?
They sorta kinda kept dropping occasional hints, but for the most part they left it up in the air. Which they naturally wanted to do because the story wasn't over (here comes Halo!) and they wanted as much freedom as they could have to build on known facts.
Now that Myth's out of their hands, they might be willing to talk to us about it, since they're never going to do a sequel. On the other hand, professional courtesy to Take Two might keep them from telling us stuff; some of their potential customers might say "Now that we know the *real* Myth story, we care less about the wrong-in-various-ways Take Two version."
So I don't really know. I *do* know, however, that Bungie's a lot more attentive to people its employees have actually met and chatted with. If more Story hounds show up for Fanfests, I'm sure the probability of new info release will go up from wherever it currently is.
