: When you say the exact same thing happened are you
: referring to Croaker finding Whisper's papers that
: revealed the Limper and The Lady's true names and then
: giving it to Soulcatcher who says that she'll give it
: to The Lady but instead keeps it for herself?
Nah, I'm talking about the earlier missions--one of the first involving more than one of the Taken directly--where Soulcatcher's using the Company to screw up the Limper's missions. I don't have the book in front of me, but isn't there that whole deal where they distract and delay the Limper so that a rebellion starts in a region he was supposed to be policing?
: What were shades originally supposed to be that dealt
: with the Black Company? Otherwise I think this theory
: is alot more reasonable than the head being Moagim or
: Wyrd's son or whatever.
Just that, originally, Shades were supposed to be "undead Avatara"--that is, Shades were *always* former enemies of the Dark who were killed and, basically, "Taken." Later, of course, the Dark became more of an abstract affiliation and less bound to a single leader, and Shades became archmages who were formerly independently evil, and voluntarily signed up with the Fallen Lords to become undead.
