In Response To: Re: The Dwarven Nation (DingoAteMyBaby)

: Then why would Stoneheim collapse the babrican when they
: heard about the fall of Myrgard? I think the empire of
: the dwarves we see in Myth is at the low point in its
: history with only one city standing (unless the
: dwarves of Stoneheim still live underground) But I
: think during the last light age the dwarves were much
: larger and more prosperous but when the dark came
: again they had to retreat back into their
: fortress-cities to weather the assault. Besides we
: know that the dwarves had a king, Albrecht. Maybe he
: was king before the sword age and the ephors were like
: the governors of the two biggest cities with the King
: above them.

What about the barbacan anyway? What exactly is it? From what I can tell, it is some kind of undergound thing which the Dwarves were able to build and collapse in upon themselves to prevent outside influence from coming in, like how a bomb shelter undergound is: keeping people underground in a chamber until the radiation goes away.

King Albrecht is most likely the new King of the Dwarves after Balin was able to free Myrgard (and likely Stoneheim as well). My interpretation of the poacher flavor text is that Albrecht was presented with the new invention of the blunderbuss and saw how utterly deadly it was saying, "Such a thing would make war too terrible to wage," as visible in the same text. In the other poacher flavor text, it says how a group of inscrupulous men got their hands on the blunderbusses via an equally inscrupulous group of Dwarves. King Albrecht probably had tried to suppress the invention of the fire arm as much as possible after discovering so it would get into the wrong hands or actually be used in war, making it as truly terrible as it is today in reality. Then, word of mouth in the black trading market might have gotten to Jimbo, Biff, Joe Bob, Hank, Remus, Billy Joe, Cletus, Bobby Joe, and Joey Bill about these knew kind of weapon which could revolutionize "huntin' fer sport." So, they paid these filthy Dwarves a fair sum to gain access to the new weapons. Then we see "A Long Awaited Drinking Party."
Basically, King Albrecht likely did not take the office until after the Great War. Also, they'd always have to stay in their city walls to live since the Ghôls would often come and attack unprotected villiages at any convenience.

For any who read this, I would like as much information possible about the Dwarves and their society.
