They have fur, differentiated teeth, external ears and a typically mammalian body structure (save for those feet). These are as good or better evidence of mammalhood than live birth (after all, monotremes lay eggs) and nursing.
GURPS says "1 out of 100 Myrkridia born becomes a Large Myrkridia." This *could* mean that only 1 in 100 lives that long, but I think it's more likely to mean that their Large/Small destiny is fixed at birth.
