While it is not unheard of in the animal world to have very obvious differences between the sexes, with size differences being the (second) most common. However, this does not apply to mammals. Mammalian females are mostly just a little bit smaller than the males, or the same size. Size differences as pronounced as those between Myrks and Myrk Giants are only really seen anong insects, arachnids, amphibians, fish and sometimes birds. I think the Giants aren't anything more, or less, spectacular than a big myrkridium(!). Perhaps they all grow that big if they survive long enough without showing any signs of weakness...
