: We don't know this. All we know about the Head is that he
: claims to have been a former lieutenant of Connacht
: (the biggest monkey-wrench in your theory)

NEW THEORY: Damas was a lueitenant of Connacht's as well. Prehaps Connacht had to select one of the the luietenants (Damas or the Head) to take east with him. Connacht eventually chose Damas. The Head got angry enough with Balor and Damas to try to assissinate them. However he was caught and beheded. This could cause enough animosity toward Balor, but no love for Alric and his cause.

P.S. just for the book, Vishnu is no the rebuildier, this is more Brahman's duty (he creates things after Shiva destroys), Vishnu is classified as "The Preserver". Anyway, you can see how the three gods wouldnt get along. Brahman always wanting to create new things, Vishnu always wanting to preserve, Shiva wanting to destroy.
