Since the only myrks that we see in the game are summoned by the summoner perhaps he was getting only the strongest which were, I guess males. He may have wanted to summon some females later on to carry on the race or maybe Soulblighter didn't want the race to breed because he may still have a little bit of Damas in him and his hatred for myrks. maybe :)
