Well, have you ever seen an army of armor clad, mace wielding women? Traditionally, wars are fought by men, maybe not today so much anymore, but in feudal times, 99.99+ percent was men, if not 100%.
Mahir could be women, but Myrmidons were a warrior race, separate from the berserks, who had been tempted by Balor. I'm pretty sure the males were the ones given immortality, but the women and children were left behind, thus... the Kithless!
Aha, yes I remember those women berserk sprites, they had breasts and everything, even a funny headshot. Heheh, the good ole days. I might still have that monstrosity of a unit somewhere on my computer still.
