: and actually the kingdom's army wasn't that large, so
: they had to train up large armies very fast. Thats why
: it was so easily defeated by Soulblighters force,
: which was alot smaller than Balor's force. After Balor
: was defeated, the kingdom regrew and expanded (barely)
: into the east (um 4 villages mb!). Over the next 60
: years the army remained not-too-big, only ever large
: enough to stop a less major threat like an invasion of
: maul, a couple of moron brigands (their biggest
: worry...:) ) ect while the veterans of the old war
: were unified under alrics banner and wiped out what
: was left of Balors army cept SB. Because so few were
: in the army, and it was a time of peace, the people of
: the west grew fat and lazy (there were like 20
: soldiers guarding the whole eastern side of the
: kingdom). The only reason Alric managed to raise an
: army fast enough to stall his buddy Soulblighter is
: because you warned Alric from through the world knot.
: Alric raised the militias but they were weak against
: maul and myrkridia.... 60 years of inactivity made
: thrall a tough target for them! Then the only reason
: Alric won in the end was his alliance with the
: deceiver and the trow, and balmung :)

: sorry bout the rant :)

There was at least one Legion in existance. For those of you who aren't familiar, a Legion is a Roman invention which almost always was kept at a sustained 5,000 soldiers (though it could be above or below, depending on the situation). Alric sent the Seventh Legion through the World Knot, it said. Now, before you start assuming that there were at least seven legions, pause and remember an important fact of the Roman workings: the number designation a Roman Legion had meant NOTHING! Almost NOTHING AT ALL! The numbers constantly and always changed from province to provice as the Legion traveled. Either this is the case for the Provincial Legions, up to six other Legions before were destroyed to leave just the Seventh, or Legions are numbered chronologically and there are at least seven Legions. The point is that there was at least one battle-ready Legion which went to try and destroy the Dark, and still enough forces were left to battle Shiver, and so forth, until Alric finally escaped to Muirthemne (with a fairly decent number of soliders).
