: Why does nobody seem to grasp the way undeath works?
: There are no known instances of PUTTING A SOUL INTO A
: BODY. Most Undead are bodies that are magically
: animated by their masters. Myrmidons and Shades are
: Undead that are sell-willed and self-powered. Shiver
: is not undead; her soul was ripped out of her body,
: and Soulblighter later made that SOUL ITSELF
: corporeal! The Shiver we see in M2 is not her undead
: body, or her soul put in someone else's body, or
: anything like that; IT IS HER SOUL, made corporeal!
: "...her spirit disconnected from her body, set
: adrift on the ether... gathered up by Soulblighter
: and... made corporeal with the terrible power of
: Tramist's Mirror."
: Do people just not get what corporeal means? It means
: physical, real, material, not just a spirit-thing on
: the ether, but a hard object which can be seen, smelt,
: and hacked into bits. So what we kill in M2 is
: Shiver's very soul; thus she is dead forever now.

We don't get that because it doesn't make any sense. :-) What does it mean for a soul to be made corporeal? That's like painting the number 5 yellow. If you carve a bit off Shiver, does she lose--I dunno--her dress sense, or her love of knock-knock jokes?

Souls don't *have* qualities like weight or tangibility. If Shiver was made corporeal, then she was given a body to go with her soul. Whether that was an existing living or dead body, or one created on the spot, we don't know.

And that flavor text doesn't say that her *soul* was made corporeal. There's an ellipsis before "made corporeal," indicating that in the original unabridged quotation there was an extra word or phrase there--very probably a whole sentence, given the way the line reads. I think it most likely referred to Shiver herself, not her soul.

GURPS states that she was either revived--which means she was given a living body--or she was provided with an undead incarnation.
