Yeah, but they're archmages. They've got the magical skillz to convert the healing energies to a form their undead bodies can use, or something. Same way Soulblighter figured out how to make himself healable between TFL and Myth 2.

Both Myth manuals and GURPS call Shades undead, so I don't think we can dispute that. :-)
