: destroy your units (because he is part of the dark),
: but he didn't, so maybe The Deceiver's soul transfered
: into Phelot (like some say) before he died. Who

Maybe he recognised the light as friends of the Myrdred and out of loyalty to his (dead?) master let them live.
Or it could be that friends of The Deciver are friends of him too.
