Yeah I think thats the way it is with most nonhuman races, they're neutral and will side with whatever side, light or dark that isn't trying to kill them. I suspect the same thing with the dwarves as with the fir'bolg except for the few who stayed in the west, going back to their own feud with the Ghols and the Mauls, after the war they were just banished back to the Blind Steppes and the Trow who Ally with whoever they owe a debt to or proves themselves worthty of their help.
