: No there was no ancient alliance, the truce between
: Ou'Khan the great king and Caliban was forger during
: the last age we know of the Sword Age in which the
: Cath Bruig were destroyed.
yes the fir'Bolg did ally with the West when Balor stormed the cloudspine, but we really don't know whether they were ever allied beforehand. Saying that "they allied with them recently" doesn't preclude an ancient alliance. We know that the fir'Bolg had a time of conflict with the humans. So there could have been an alliance in the distant past where the fir'Blog taught archery to the Cath Bruig (who then restricted it to a certain class of elite warrior only), but then they came into conflict with eachother over some difference, betrayal, or slight. Ages later the fir'Blog were forced into an alliance with the West, facing total obliteration. So, naturally, they put aside their differences.
: But I think it's very
: likely there was a war between the Bre'Unor and the
: Fir'Bolg. B'Yalaggo would have been greatly
: strengthened by the amound of death during the great
: war wouldn't she? Perhaps another Bre'Unor as mighty
: as the great Gor-Ash has arisen. The Gor-Ash scenario
: is one of the funnest i'd ever played, I'd love to see
: a sequel with the Fir'Bolg Bre'Unor battles following
: the defeat of Balor.
Ummm... gor'Ash doesn't exist. Creation made him up, and while it's a cool story, it's not canon by any means. We know that b'Y'laggo feeds of the dying breaths of her enemies, but as far as we know, the bre'Unor sat around picking their noses during the great war. Also I think the dying breaths have to be enemies of the bre'Unor, killed by bre'Unor (or sacraficed mb). I was presenting a possibility of why the fir'Bolg didn't stay allies with the West and the rise of the bre'Unor was one of my suggestions.
