When was the deceiver ever killed? He wasn't dead in the Cloudspine he kept himself alive using all his magical power during the period between his defeat and his rescue and he doesn't show any signs of being raised from the dead. Maybe he suffered Shivers fate and is now incorporeal. If Alric were to recover Tramists Mirror from one of Soulblighter's camps he may be able to return to life (or unlife) as Shiver had done.
