: Its one of the theories on the Asylum, that there are two
: souls Alric and Balor who in turn become the hero and
: the leveller. Personally I don't believe in it.
Actually, it's something that GURPS postulates, which lead to the dueling-spirits theory.
: Its more my belief that the Leveller isn't so much a
: condition as a spirit, who because of some weird
: celestial rule can only enter into the body of a past
: hero. Connacht was Balor, but Balor was more the
: Leveller then Connacht in my opinion.
The Leveller is a spirit; or, technically, a "transient divinity'". He is a god, who posesses humans, moving into a new body every thousand years. However, we know that Levellers DON'T just posess former heroes - Moagim was a former hero, Balor was a former hero, but "Moagim Reborn" was newly reincarnated, and for reasons as-yet-unknown seems to have retained the mind or otherwise the identify of his former self, in essense having been reborn instead of simply reincarnated.
However, when you look at the facts that Tireces, Moagim, Moagim Reborn, and more than likely (as GURPS suggests) Alric are all the same spirit reincarnated, and in two lifetimes posssed by the Leveller, then you see that HALF of the known heroes and Levellers were the same soul, and two of the other four (Connacht/Balor) were too. So it makes sense that if Connacht/Balor opposed MoagimReborn/Alric, then earlier lives of Connacht/Balor would have opposed the earlier lives of MoagimReborn/Alric, namely Tireces/Moagim.
