Its one of the theories on the Asylum, that there are two souls Alric and Balor who in turn become the hero and the leveller. Personally I don't believe in it.
Its more my belief that the Leveller isn't so much a condition as a spirit, who because of some weird celestial rule can only enter into the body of a past hero. Connacht was Balor, but Balor was more the Leveller then Connacht in my opinion.
Hence why in my theory he had to set so many plans in motion in order to see to his obliteration AFTER he became Balor. Because Balor would for all intrinsic purposes be his dark mirror, knowing who what he was and what he had in mind... Hence why the wildcard of Damas and the Head were needed for his master plan.
Although I think Alric's discovery of the Mykrydian Standard was the one part of the needed plan that Connacht couldn't have seen...which is why it was so effective...but one could argue that Connacht exerted his will to make the Leveller make such a horrific mistake.
