This whole conversation will now be proved meaningless. Garrick, in fact is NOT a captain. Although his unit type is captain the intoduction to the mission after Gonen's Bridge the Jouranl says 'Our sargeant, Garrick' Cruniac was the captain. And earlier in Soulblighter it does mention Crunaics adeptness at strategy but sadly we never get to see him combat skills.
